The star has given the entirety of his £25,000 award prize money to the Music Venues Trust, which operates to protect the United Kingdom's independent live music spots.

He was given the prize on mid-October as his latest record his work was named the outstanding release of the past year.

The musician has decided to hand the money over to the trust, in appreciation of the crucial part grassroots venues played in his beginning days.

"I wouldn't be doing this success if it wasn't for all the gigs I performed around the region, and elsewhere, when I was starting out," remarked Fender. "These spaces are iconic, but they are facing challenges."

Beginning in 2023, at least 150 of these venues have permanently closed – roughly one-sixth of the entire UK sector.

In the last year, major artists like the band Pulp, Coldplay, the singer Katy Perry and Sheeran have all backed the Music Venues Trust in its efforts to help venues survive, by applying a modest fee to their ticket prices, which supports independent venues.

He also took part, collecting over £100k on his recent tour to support numerous small stages across the UK.

The donation supported locations that were confronting potential shutdown due to difficulties caused by water damage, fires and bereavements, as well as licensing issues, court cases and sound issues.

Some locations received monetary aid in modernizing amenities and sound and lighting systems that positively impacted performers and concertgoers.

"The notion that money from performances in large arenas supports the independent spots, where it kicks off for musicians like me, is just common sense," the star has commented.

He is among several artists to donate his honor funds to charitable organizations.

In Pulp earned the award in the mid-90s for their record the album, lead singer Cocker announced that the act would give their prize money to the non-profit the charity.

During 2002, rapper and singer the artist split her bounty across multiple organizations, such as the NSPCC and a Sickle Cell organization.

"I also gave a thousand pounds to my local community centre, to their gymnastics program, because I practiced gymnastics when I was younger and they lacked new equipment," the artist shared with the media.

In recent years, the band gave their prize money to the local youth club that nurtured their group, in addition to other independent music bodies.

And winners that year the group donated their prize to a charity for MS after a close contact was diagnosed the illness.

"The victory was ample," stated vocalist Small. "The money was the extra but we could do without the cherry, because we had the main prize. So our victory touched another person's life."

In the past week, the trust announced it had rescued a couple of small stages in south-east England, by placing them under public stewardship.

One venue in Southampton and The Croft in Bristol were purchased under the community ownership scheme, which is funded by Arts Council England and supporters who purchase "ownership units" in the buildings.
